Senior Cybersecurity and compliance consultant

James Brosnan is an experienced information security and compliance leader with a career spanning electric utilities, regulatory oversight, and enterprise cybersecurity program development. He brings deep expertise in NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), security risk management, and governance programs, supported by hands-on experience across generation, transmission, and control center environments. James holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Management Information Systems and is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).

Currently, James serves as a Cybersecurity and Compliance Consultant with Ampyx Cyber, where he specializes in NERC CIP implementation, internal controls, and regulatory mapping initiatives, including work aligned to NIST SP 800-53 and the NIST Online Informative Reference (OLIR) program. In parallel, he leads information security and compliance efforts for Ursa Space Systems as Information Security and Compliance Program Manager and acting CISO, overseeing security strategy, supply chain risk management, internal audits, and security culture development.

Previously, James held roles as a cybersecurity auditor with the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and as Manager of Security Risk Management and IT Compliance at Evergy, where he led teams responsible for CIP compliance, vulnerability assessments, supply chain security, and enterprise risk registers. His career foundation includes operational OT and SCADA experience in energy management systems and utility field operations, giving him a rare end-to-end perspective that bridges operations, compliance, and cybersecurity leadership.
