Have you been scammed?

If you’ve been scammed, you’re not alone. Hundreds of thousands of people are scammed every year. Be kind to yourself as you report and recover. There are resources to help.

Steps to take after being scammed

  1. Report it to your local police department.

  2. Report it to your bank.

  3. Freeze your credit.

  4. Report it to IC3 & the FTC.

  5. Look for support.

It can be very helpful to talk through the scam with a friend or family member to make sure you’ve take all necessary steps to recover, such as cancelling affected credit or debit cards, changing affected passwords, and blocking the scammer on your phone or social media.
